Meetings & Events

Meetings and Events

我們通常每隔一星期聚會一次,一般是在周六下午2:00在基督之家第五家聚會,但是有時候我們也會外出野餐、夜宿或者露營。

Pack 485 convenes regularly throughout the school year, typically gathering once every two to three weeks. Our primary meeting spot is the Home of Christ Church in Cupertino. In addition to our indoor sessions, we also organize a range of exciting outdoor activities, including picnics, sleepovers, and camping trips.

Board Game Design Kick Off @ Children's Chapel
Jan 18 @ 2:00 pm – 3:45 pm

The Board Game Design

The Board Game Design Workshop invites Cub Scouts to create their own board, card, or dice games. This event encourages Scouts to learn from each other, discover their potential in design and art, and develop teamwork skills. Every participating Scout will receive a Board Game Guru patch as a recognition of their creativity and effort.

To earn the “Board Game Guru” patch, Scouts must actively participate in the Kick-Off, the production process, and the final presentation.

Milestones

  • Kick-off (1/18/2025) – Brainstorm and decide what type of game to make
  • Game Prototype Production – Team and do this at home or at church.
  • Presentation (2/15/2025) – Test final prototype and presentation

1/18 Kick-Off

  • Introduction to board game: Board game types, and contest rules
  • Guidelines:
    1. The board game can be designed for 2 players, 4 players, or multiple players.

    4. Each game must include a written game rules sheet.
  • Scouts will be divided into 8 teams (A to H), with 5-6 Scouts of all ages on each team.

2/15 Presentation

Each team will prepare a 3-5 minute presentation to introduce their game. The presentation should address the following points:

FAQs 常問問題解答

What do I wear to the sleepover?
All scouts wear Class B (orange T-shirt). Parents please wear orange polo shirt if you have one.

What do I need to bring to the sleepover?
The Academy requires a signed Waiver of Liability form for each adult and each child attending a sleepover. For children, the Waiver must be signed by the child’s parent or guardian. The Waiver of Liability must identify the adult who will be responsible for the child during the sleepover. Only original Waivers will be accepted; no faxes or copies. No one can be admitted without a completed Waiver. Click here for a checklist of what to bring to the Academy for the sleepover.

Can I stay at the Academy the next morning?
After the Sleepover ends at 8 am, if you would like to spend the day at the Academy you may get your hand stamped and re-enter when the building opens for the day.

Can I bring my own food?
We do not allow outside food into the Academy during sleepovers, except in connection to a dietary restriction (please contact us in advance to arrange this). Dinner and drinks are available for purchase at the Academy Café from 6–9 pm. A bedtime snack and breakfast the next day are included.

Can I leave at any time during the sleepover?
There are no in/out privileges during the sleepover. If you leave the sleepover for any reason before its conclusion, you may re-enter when the Academy re-opens the next day.

Where can I park?
Garage parking is included; bring your ticket with you for validation. Please note that there is no overnight street parking (as per Golden Gate Park regulations) and that the garage is not operated by the Academy.
